About

THE STORY

Westlow

When I was little, my father used to tell me they had adopted me from a small circus.

He said it like it was obvious. I believed him for longer than I should have. I'm still not sure he was wrong.

There's a chest that's been filling for years with no plan — a jacket from a market with no name, fabric remembered from somewhere that might not exist, a skirt with embroidery that belongs to a decade nobody can place. Things that shouldn't work together and do. Things that have no explanation and don't need one.

The References

Made to be found, not followed.

European folk and old circus. Spanish countryside at the wrong hour. Women who embroidered their skirts because something told them to, and women who rode in from the field and didn't change before sitting down to dinner. The ornate and the plain. The performative and the completely unselfconscious. I grew up in the middle of it, and at some point, I stopped trying to pick a side. It was taking too long.

The Making

Made in Spain

By people who have been doing this long enough to know when something isn't right. We just noticed what was already there.

The Circle sees it first.

New pieces, the story behind them, nothing else. No noise.
